Fascia Trim & Soffit

Fascia Trim

How Fascia Trim & Soffit work. Fascia Trim is the board that covers the edge, or face, of an overhang, like the eaves of a roof. It connects to the soffit and is sometimes called “transition trim., "fascia", or "trim"

Facia vs Trim Our Guarantee

While Fascia and Trim are both important components in home construction, they serve different purposes and are not the same. Trim is primarily decorative and used for covering joints and transitions between surfaces, while fascia is a functional component of the exterior roofing system

Purpose of Fascia

Fascia serves the home by helping to keep moisture out and away from the roof when installed properly. It also supports the roof, shingles and gutters, which help direct water away from the home.

Soffit vs Trim

Soffit is the material that lines the underside of your roofing on an overhang and can be either vented to help air flow or closed to protect the interior. Fascia is the forward-facing trim that lines the perimeter of the roof and is perpendicular to the soffit. Its primary purpose is protection of the roofing.

Aluminum or Vinyl Soffit & Trim

Without proper upkeep, heat and moisture can both cause damage to vinyl soffit and reduce its lifespan. Ice and heat can cause freezing and thawing that leads to cracks in vinyl soffit. Aluminum soffit, on the other hand, tends to have greater longevity than vinyl, meaning it will continue to perform year after year.

what is the best option for Soffit

Aluminum soffit is a solid upgrade from wood or vinyl because it is much more durable and weather-resistant. Aluminum won't rot or warp due to the elements, and it doesn't require all the maintenance of wood. Plus, it does not have the same flammability risk of wood or vinyl soffit.

Vented or Sold Soffit

While vented soffits are ideal for attic ventilation, there are other soffit board options: Non-Vented Soffits: These solid boards don't allow airflow and are typically used for purely aesthetic purposes.
